Whether you're looking for a local team of Colorado-based therapists or a trusted provider of evidence-backed nervous system care across the U.S., we’d be honored to partner with you.
This isn’t one-size-fits-all therapy. It’s a collaborative space where counseling sits alongside powerful, body-based tools like EMDR, the Safe and Sound Protocol, and the Rest + Restore Protocol.
Some people come here for ongoing therapy. Others just need one of the tools. Either way, the goal is the same: to help you feel more regulated, more connected, and more like yourself.
In our work (and in our own lives), we’ve seen how traditional therapy often falls short when the nervous system is stuck in survival mode. Awareness alone isn’t always enough. That's why we built a practice that provides solution oriented care that supports lasting change, not just insight
We’re proud to be based in Colorado, and even prouder to support clients across the country. Many of our services are available virtually, including counseling, EMDR, the Safe and Sound Protocol, and more.
All you need is a quiet space and an internet connection. We’ll handle the rest.
Whether you’re local or out of state, we’ll help you find the path forward.
No one heals in isolation, and no one on our team works in a silo. Our collaborative, multi-specialist approach ensures you get thoughtful, integrated care that’s shaped by real communication and shared insight.
Relief shouldn’t depend on privilege. That’s why we offer flexible pricing, creative care pathways, and transparent communication, because healing should feel possible.
We don’t promise to erase pain, but we help ease it. Through nervous system regulation and attuned support, we offer tangible relief, emotional steadiness, and a gentler way forward.
Counseling sessions for Colorado-based clients are covered by select insurance plans, and we’ll confirm your benefits during the intake process. For those paying out of pocket, our rate is $150 per session.
We also offer sliding scale spots, flexible payment plans for nervous system protocols (like SSP and RRP), and superbills for possible out-of-network reimbursement. Our non-clinical services are self-pay only, but we’ll walk you through your options, because access matters.

Before SSP with Sound Mind Colorado, I was struggling with constant anxiety and tension in my household. It made me feel overwhelmed, to the point that I was even obsessively picking at my cuticles without realizing it. After completing SSP, my anxiety has lessened and our home feels calmer. One day I suddenly realized I wasn’t feeling anxious like I used to, and I had stopped picking altogether.
Before SSP with Sound Mind Colorado, I struggled with generalized anxiety, constant overthinking, and fear of rejection. It made me feel frozen in decision-making and insecure in social situations. I often avoided stepping out of my comfort zone because the fear felt so overwhelming. Now, I have greater self-confidence and self-acceptance.The biggest difference is how much more I trust myself. Regulating my body made fear feel less dangerous. I feel braver, more open, and more myself.
Before SSP with Sound Mind Colorado, I was very reactive. Small irritations would get under my skin, and I often lost patience, especially with my son. It made me feel tense and quick to anger, and I didn’t like the way I was showing up as a dad. The biggest difference is this slowing of my reactions. It’s powerful to feel like I can still feel emotions but not be run by them. I feel calmer, more patient, and more in control.
Before SSP with Sound Mind Colorado, my son Wyatt had very big emotions. Frustration or disappointment would quickly turn into anger, and evenings often felt like we were constantly bracing for fight-or-flight. It made our family life feel chaotic and reactive. Now, the edges of those big emotions have softened, and he reacts less strongly. There’s less shouting, more calm, and stronger trust between us.
Yes. Counseling sessions for Colorado-based clients are covered by certain insurance providers, and we’ll confirm your benefits during the intake process. However, the Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP), the Rest & Restore Protocol (RRP), and any other non-clinical interventions we offer are self-pay services and not covered by insurance. For out-of-network counseling clients in Colorado, we can provide superbills for possible reimbursement.
Research shows that the most noticeable effects of SSP and RRP often appear 6–8 weeks after completing the program, though some clients experience positive changes sooner. Counseling doesn’t follow the same timeline, since it’s a more individualized process. Progress can unfold in weeks, months, or longer, depending on your goals and needs.
Many of our clients come to us after feeling discouraged by therapy that didn’t create lasting change. That’s a common experience, but it doesn’t mean lasting change isn’t possible.. Our approach starts with the nervous system, using the Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) and Rest & Restore Protocol (RRP) alongside counseling (Colorado residents only), so your body feels safe enough for growth to take root.
Research shows that SSP and RRP often produce measurable shifts in regulation and resilience within weeks, giving you something tangible to hold onto, whether you are receiving counseling from us or not.
We provide different services for adults and children, and it’s important to clarify what is and isn’t available. For adults, couples, and Colorado residents only, we offer counseling in addition to nervous system protocols like SSP and RRP.
For children, we do not provide counseling, but we do offer SSP and RRP as stand-alone interventions. These protocols can be highly effective for kids, helping them calm their nervous systems, feel safer in their bodies, and improve emotional regulation and connection. Parents often notice benefits such as reduced reactivity, improved focus, and a greater sense of ease at home and school.
While we don’t see children for counseling, these nervous system protocols allow us to support kids in meaningful, targeted ways that complement the care they may already be receiving elsewhere.
Traditional counseling can sometimes feel open-ended, leaving clients unsure of whether progress is being made or when it’s time to stop. At Sound Mind Colorado, we do things differently.
We offer time-limited interventions like SSP and RRP with clear structures and completion points. In counseling, we’re proactive about checking in often, assessing your goals, and making sure the process feels useful and satisfying.
Endings are treated as a natural and healthy part of therapy, and we guide that decision together, so you never feel stuck or left to figure it out on your own.
